Hey guys! Marisa here!
Today I am going to debut my BRAND NEW PATTERN for the wildly popular “messy bun beanie” but first, here’s a little bit of my backstory:

I started Mountain Mommy’s Crochet (on Facebook) in the fall of 2012, right after we moved back to Wyoming! I jumped in learning random patterns and soon I was getting 50+ orders a month. I started off doing hats of all sizes, and then towards the end, I focused mainly on newborn photography props. ย If you want to check it out, you can see my work here!

I was busy…. so busy in fact I felt like I never did anything except crochet from the moment I woke up until the moment I went to bed!! ย It was actually getting to a point where there were so many crochet businesses out there (many of whom were charging less than half the price of what I was), that I was forced to either sell my items at dirt cheap prices, or quit. I wasn’t really too sure what to do.

It was at about this time (March of 2014), when I started using Young Living Essential Oils and decided that I should jump in this business with both feet and leave my crocheting to the side for awhile. Now, over two years later, I am a Silver Leader with Young Living and I have barely crocheted at all….. (If you want to know anything about Young Living Essential Oils, shoot me a message, I love to chat oils too)!!!

Until these last couple of months!! I’m totally, 100% addicted to crocheting again!!!
We have a HUGE, HUGE family (my husband and I have 15 nieces and nephews), and I really struggle on what to do for everyone for Christmas. Whenever we buy gifts, we easily spend hundreds of dollars because all the little things add up, and shipping is RIDICULOUS!

This year I decided to make hats for a majority of my family and our signature homemade candy (that we’ve made for the last couple of years). All of my family is getting my signature “poof hat”. Last year I created this design, but I’ve never shared the pattern (even though whenever I post pictures of it, I get multiple people interested in it)! I’ve been holding out ๐Ÿ˜‰

This week I’ve been tagged easily 50 times in those awesome “Messy Bun Beanies” and so I decided to tweak my “poof hat” and make it into a messy bun beanie!!! ย The awesome thing about this hat, is that this ONE pattern fits my preschooler, my second grader AND me without tweaking it at all!
Here’s little Ms. Oaklee Brynn modeling for me this morning ๐Ÿ™‚ ย She has been refusing to take it off!

YOU CAN FIND THIS PATTERN HERE:

on Ravelryย andย ย Craftsy

****When you order this pattern, come back here and comment below with how you like it and feel free to share a picture of the hat YOU created!! I will be choosing 3 people to get their money back from their hat purchase from me, because it’s Christmas time, and I’m totally in a giving mood!!! I will also FINALLY be releasing my “poof hat” pattern in the next couple of weeks and I will be sending out this pattern out FREE to a few of you who post here****

I think this pattern is really unique and I am so excited to share it with all of you!
If you have ANY questions, feel free to message me at mountainmommyscrochet@gmail.com

Love,
Marisa

This is so great. I have seen this hat several times and now you have the pattern up. I will get it and give it a try. If I can’t make it look right I may have to order from you directly.
Anyway, thanks for being so creative and helping this amateur out.

Hey Sherry! Just send me a message on Facebook if you can’t figure it out! There’s tons of puff stitch patterns on Youtube, just remember the tips I posted and it should be easy to change any of those into this specific puff ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you so much for your purchase!! Let me know how it turns out for you!

I love this pattern! Marisa is so great at creating and writing patterns. ๐Ÿ™‚

When I got hung up in the beginning, she didn’t hesitate to make me a quick video to help me out! After my initial hang up, the rest of the hat was so easy and worked up quicker than I expected!

    It’s so stinking cute. โคโ„

Loved this. So easy and works up quick. Also thanks for the pics and tips. And the last min video. I know there are patterns everywhere free but buying a pattern gives me then support of the designer behind it. Loved it. Thanks.
I can’t figure out how to post my pic of my hat. But I sent it. :))

I had a free weekend & thought I should try something new. This was by far my favorite pattern this weekend. I have a smaller head so I was worried about the fit. But all I had to do was leave off the last row. I can’t wait to wear this to work tomorrow & not completely free out at recess. Thank you!

Aww! I am so glad you loved it! I think one of the coolest things about this pattern is that it fits so many head sizes (my kids are little and my hat fits them too)! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with it, please let me know if you have any questions! I hope you get tons of complements on it tomorrow!

Thank you so much for the pattern! I finished the hat and now am trying to figure out how to do a scarf to match. I’m so new at crochet so we will see how it goes. I’ve also been using YL for the last 2 years! It’s been a life-changer for me!
