– GETTING TO KNOW RACHAEL –
I know I gave a brief intro about myself and a peek into my life but I really feel like I should lay it all out on the table for you all so that you can get a better feel of who I am and my life/family — enjoy! 😀
Myself — My name is Rachael and I am 27 years young. My birthday is November 12th. My life revolves around my love for Jesus. I mean, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him so the least I can do is keep Him in my life! I rely on Him and LOTS of prayer to get me through life. My faith has gotten me through some of the best and also some of the toughest times in my life. I absolutely LOVE food; whether it is cooking it or eating it. I am a pretty laid back person. I have been a SAHM (stay-at-home mom) for over 6 years now and I really can’t imagine my life any differently. I took on the title of WAHM (work-at-home mom) about 2 ½ years ago when I began my own crochet business — www.facebook.com/rm.crochetnthings. It is something that helps me “relax” at times, after a long day with my boys. Plus, seeing what I can create with just a skein or two of yarn is pretty nifty! I consider myself a pretty easy going, super laid back kind of girl. All I need to keep me happy is Jesus, wine, and some country music!
My children — I have two amazing and rambunctious boys – Aiden who is 6 years old and Jaxon who is 3 years old; both of which are total opposite personalities! Aiden is my inquisitive/curious one and Jaxon is my, “I don’t care if you tell me I will hurt myself – I am going to do it and see for myself”, one! They definitely keep me on my toes but also keep me grounded at the same time. They both love the outdoors and doing art/crafts. Just like most siblings, they fight daily but the moment one goes to stay with their cousins or grandparent, the other doesn’t know what to do without his brother around!
My husband — I have been married to my husband for 5 ½ years (together for 7). I thank God every day for blessing me with such an amazing man who can handle all of the highs and lows of me and still sticks by my side on my worst of days. I am your typical female — I sometimes mood swings that change in the blink of an eye, I love to feel loved but I also have a bubble that goes up anytime I just “need some space”. My husband is pretty much my perfect counterpart and we balance each other out amazingly!
Essential Oils — My family and I dove into the world of Young Living Essential Oils in August 2014 and haven’t looked back since! I really can’t even tell you in just one post about how incredibly life changing these have been for our family; so I am STOKED to share with you and give you a more in-depth look into just how phenomenal these oils are and how we use them in our daily lives, through this blog and more posts in the future.
Homeschooling — I started homeschooling our two boys this past August (2014). Mainly it is our 6 year old who began Kindergarten. I try to incorporate a few things a week into our schedule for our 3 year old but he is interested for about 2.5 seconds and is on to something different! My husband and I made the decision for me to homeschool because 1. We feel that it is what works with our lifestyle. Homeschooling is not for everyone. Some people can’t because of their lifestyle and some people just simply don’t want to — and that is OKAY! As long as we, as moms, are doing what works best for our child(ren) then that is all that matters! And 2. Our 6 year old has had such a passion for learning and curiosity that is never ending since he was about 2 ½ (vs. my 3 year old who would rather just play with Hot Wheels all day — again, polar opposites). So, through the last couple of years he has become so smart with just the small things we would teach him, we began to feel that we should be the ones who has control of his education, at least for these first few years of school. We want him to be able to learn at his own pace; learn in a way that works for him!
Cooking — Oh, food. Who doesn’t love food?! I have always loved food but it wasn’t until I moved out and started a family of my own, that I realized how much fun COOKING is! Between our television being on Food Network most of the time, our kiddos’ tastebuds change daily, so I have really learned how to experiment with cooking and trying all kinds of new and healthy recipes! The sky is pretty much the limit on things you can cook and all of the different ways you can cook them. We consider ourselves a fairly “clean” eating family. Over the last year or two, we our minds have been completely opened to the fact of, good health all starts in the gut! BUT, we do enjoy a carb-filled pasta dish or cheese covered casserole from time to time! I feel like my love for cooking has rubbed off on my 6 year old recently because he has really become interested in WHAT I am cooking and HOW I am doing it. I have made it a point to find at least 2-3 recipes that are kid friendly, to do with him every week. I am so excited to be able to share the recipes that WE love as a family, with you/your family!
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and letting me share some of the most important things in my life and what kind of post topics you can expect to see from me! I am usually a very shy/to-myself person and blogging is very new to me. I am feeling a bit intimidated, so please bear with me as I work out kinks and get more comfortable/acquainted with the blogging scene! I am very excited though, to push myself in a new direction to somewhere that is quite a bit out of my comfort zone because great things have never come from comfort zones!
